Well-Being

Service Overview

At NTT Data Institute of Manangement Consulting Inc., we contribute to maximizing the well-being of local communities and residents by contributing to local government management and town development from the resident's perspective, adding new value standards other than economics (people-centered). We are advancing the development of mechanisms that visualize the charm of cities, allowing for an objective understanding and recognition of the current state and the desired future of one's own city.

We utilize such tools in the formulation of urban development policies, supporting municipalities in building Evidence-Based Policy Making (EBPM) and Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycles, as well as providing assistance in drafting comprehensive plans and regional revitalization strategies that are people-centric, including basic plans for individual policies.

Furthermore, we are rolling out various people-centric urban development and social design initiatives focused on the daily activities of residents, such as "learning," "working," "walking," and "eating." This includes designing learning experiences for everyone from preschoolers to working adults, and promoting inclusive community development initiatives such as walkability and barrier-free accessibility, led by our highly specialized staff.

Consulting Approach

Creating a System to Visualize Well-Being

Starting with the "SUGATAMI," a mirror that reflects the "current state" of the city, developed as part of the Sustainable Smart City Partner Program (SSPP) promoted by the NTT Group, we are designing and planning various tools to visualize the happiness and satisfaction levels of people living in cities. For instance, SUGATAMI uses three key factors that shape future societies to reflect the city's state.

  1. Well-Being (Happiness): In addition to "individual happiness," we incorporate aspects of social capital such as communities that enhance happiness, history, culture, and natural assets (landscapes) to achieve "community and resident happiness.”
  2. Sustainability: We also include perspectives on renewable energy and carbon neutrality to make natural assets sustainable.
  3. Society 5.0: We incorporate the maximization of Digital Transformation (DX) to improve resilience and ensure redundancy.

Practicing Well-Being

We are deploying policy formulation support nationwide, including promoting urban development utilizing ISO37106 to advance sustainable, people-centric smart cities (supporting Japan's first certification acquisition) and comprehensive plan formulation using Well-Being indicators, including SUGATAMI.
